Growing, inspiring and changing together – a conversation with Jana on International Women's Day
For International Women's Day, we talk to inspiring women from the PURELEI team about their values, experiences and their personal definition of empowerment. Today Jana gives us an insight into her world and how she works for the projects close to her heart with passion, optimism and drive. Let her story inspire you!
Introduce yourself to us, who are you and what do you do at PURELEI?
My name is Jana, I am lead for Event & Experience at PURELEI and also oversee the charity department. Both topics inspire me both personally and professionally - that's why I'm very grateful for this role.
What inspires you most every day?
I am inspired by the small and large successes that I can see around me in my private and professional life, be it in others or in myself. But I am also inspired by looking back at my own past successes.
How would you like to inspire other women?
Especially in the charity sector, the following applies: just start! Every first step counts - no matter how small it seems or what your inner critic objects. My projects also started on a small scale and are now an important part of my life.
Which woman particularly influenced or inspired you?
Definitely the women in my family – especially my mother and my grandmother. I would describe her as strong.
What is your superpower?
My superpower is optimism paired with resilience and absolute drive.
What does World Women’s Day mean to you?
For me, World Women's Day is a day on which we can focus together on this important issue. At the same time, it is also important to me not to lose focus and to continue the commitment beyond this day.
What does empowerment mean to you?
It's important to me not only to raise my own voice, but also to encourage others to do the same. At the same time, it is also important to take into account those for whom this is not so easy - and then to speak even louder for them.
What do friendships between women mean to you?
For me, friendships between women are the icing on the cake - they make the beautiful moments even more beautiful and the difficult ones easier. A life without my friends? Unimaginable!
What gives you more strength, courage or community?
Definitely courage. Some paths you just have to go alone or start alone.
What does Together, We Grow mean to you?
Seeing other women as inspiration and not as competition. To recognize where we can learn from each other and how we can support each other.
How do you define female strength?
It's about tackling challenges courageously, staying true to your values, respecting your own boundaries and still remaining empathetic.
