The current Mahina Club Close to Nature Edition stands for the connection between nature, people and animals. Together with Jennifer Czeczor we designed matching pieces of jewelry that are also intended to create a connection between you and nature. We chose moonstone as the central element because Jennifer is convinced of the healing effects of the gemstone on the body and mind. Because the moonstone is not only pretty to look at, it is also said to have healing powers. But what can this healing stone that you carry with you in the necklace and earrings of the Kapo set do?
The name
Moonstone owes its name to its shimmering appearance, which is reminiscent of moonlight. If you move the stone back and forth in the light, you will probably have noticed the fascinating shine on the milky-white surface. In addition, the moonstone, like the moon, is said to have an influence on the human body - especially on that of women, because it is also called the women's stone.
The History of Moonstone
In many ancient cultures, moonstone was a symbol of the power of the moon. The Greeks called the moonstone Selene, after the Greek moon goddess. For the Romans, the stone stood for love and tenderness and was said to make people fall in love. They believed that moonstone was made from freezing moonlight - a nice idea, right?
In India and among the natives of North America, moonstone is said to have properties that are said to have a positive effect on sleep and keep nightmares away.
The Women's Stone
Moonstone has one thing in common in many cultures: it stands for fertility. It is said to have a positive effect on women's cycles, pregnancy or fertility if they want to have children. That's why some women wear the stone during pregnancy because it is said to be good for the baby and help with birth. The healing stone is also said to have a positive influence on the emotional world and ensure more harmony, energy, balance and joy of life.
Moonlight for the moonstone
It is said that by using moonstone as a talisman or healing stone, the stone discharges itself after a while. In order to recharge, the moonstone needs its namesake, the moon. The light of the full moon is said to be particularly suitable for this. It should be noted that the stone should be exposed to direct moonlight, i.e. in the open air.
Jewelry and healing stone
Whether you believe in the effect of moonstone or not, its shimmering surface makes it simply beautiful to look at. So it's no wonder that it is one of the most popular jewelry and healing stones. There is currently no scientific evidence for the actual effect of moonstone and of course it does not replace treatment by a doctor in the event of physical or psychological complaints.
I found it very fascinating to find out how many centuries the gemstone has been captivating a wide variety of cultures and is said to have these positive effects on the body and mind. Did you already know some of these things about moonstone, or do you perhaps have other interesting stories about it? I'm looking forward to your comment.
